About Us

Taking into consideration economic factors in the Williamsburg community in Brooklyn, New York, Father Karvelis had a vision of economic support to stimulate the low income community in Transfiguration Parish Church. We are committed to provide our members with the best affordable financial services as the foundation of its existence.

Transfiguration Parish Federal Credit Union started its operations in the basement of the Transfiguration Church convent on Marcy Avenue in Brooklyn, New York in 1962. Father Karvelis wanted to provide our community with the financial tools and services at a lower cost as compared to other financial institutions. We started with a minimum capital of less than a $1,000.00 dollars. All staff members were volunteers. A few years later we moved our operations to the South Side area due to member's growth and a need for a larger location. We continued with our goals to improve services by acquiring a building at 429 Broadway in Williamsburg, which is a central location to our members.

Transfiguration Parish Federal Credit Union offers consumer protection under the provisions of the National Credit Union Administration. This agency enforces compliance with its rules and regulations. The credit union accounts are federally insured up to $250,000.00.

Mission Statements:

Transfiguration Parish Federal Credit Union is proud to provide our members a safe and sound credit union system which promotes confidence, commitment, reliability, and business continuity.
